Having been in the pet trade for nearly 40 years now, We’ve seen many changes in the quality of dog food and that’s good news for dogs because in the main it means the quality of ingredients has dramatically changed for the better.

Our mission at Grumpy’s has been to seek out the best foods that use quality ingredients, which don’t include nasty ‘fillers’ like cereals that have a detrimental impact on a dogs health. We also look for foods that preserve the food naturally and don’t have nasty chemicals.

Over the years we have sought out small companies that really care about quality of ingredients, these products have sold exceedingly well and still do. Dogs thrive on the correct diet and the results are seen in the dogs general appearance, skin and coat quality and energy levels, this is a great thing because a healthy dog lives a longer life.

At the beginning of last year we became aware that there was going to be significant price increases in dog food caused by increases in transport, manufacturing, and the cost of the raw ingredients. This mimics the cost of living crisis that we are currently seeing in human foods. We knew that some of our customers would be looking for an alternative should the price of their current food become beyond their budget.

The main thing for us was to source a food that still had the same great ingredients but was going be cheaper to buy. The answer was found in getting food made for us directly from the manufacturer; this was how our food ‘Bark 4 More’ first came about.
